‘Ke Egeneto Kipros’

Ke Egeneto Kipros, meaning “And Cyprus came to be,” is a film exploring how the identity and landscape of Cyprus have been constructed and reshaped over time. I treated the film as a kind of diagnostic tool, bringing together archival material, mythology, tourism imagery and contemporary development. It looks at the contrast between the idealised, mythologised image of Cyprus and the reality of rapid coastal development, questioning what the island is becoming and how its changing landscape is affecting its identity.
