Solastalgia A Threnody In Three Instruments

Solastalgia: A Threnody is a ceremony of mourning for a landscape not yet lost. Set at Kouris Dam, Cyprus, where a submerged village sits beneath a retreating waterline, the project embeds three instruments into the dam’s infrastructure, each one measuring a different layer of the hydrological cycle as it diminishes.

Together they structure a ceremony that returns across two centuries, each visit finding less water, more exposed ground, more to grieve.

The project sits with solastalgia, the particular grief of watching a place change beyond recognition while you are still standing in it, and asks whether architecture can hold that space open, not as memorial, but as ongoing witness.
